"The Congress leadership and the United Progressive Alliance government are propagating that the Indo-US nuclear deal is absolutely essential for India's energy security. A massive disinformation campaign has been mounted that nuclear energy is a solution not only to the shortage of electricity in the country but also an answer to the oil price rise. This is nothing but a cover to promote the strategic ties with the US," the CPI-M Politburo said in a statement.
This is excellent. The conspiracy buffs are going to love this. Conspiracy theorists will go green with envy.
Communists
All the communists are alike. They have wasted their youthful years and are still hell bent on wasting more years of their life filling their head with the fecal ideology of Marxism. The one thing a communist is always proud of is his stubbornness in the face of overwhelming evidence. They think that they can bludgeon their way into the minds of people like you and me using just outdated ideology.
Change
What the politburo is now saying against the Nuclear Deal is the same that they said when the telecommunications industry had to be opened up for privatization and foreign technology. It is the same set of arguments phrased in almost similar language. In fact some of the current protagonists of economic liberalization were opposed to to telecom liberalization. The list includes even the current chairman of the National Knowledge Commission who promised to develop competitive domestic technology - All his efforts only delayed telecom revolution by 5 years.
Look at the sea change that has taken place in the telecom sector after liberalization. It is time people called the bluff and exposed the obstructionists to the country's development and their hollow rhetoric which they have been using like parrots for
ages.
On a side note, ever heard of Sam Pitroda who opposed the use of Mobile phones in India, dubbing it 'Rich Man's Toy'?
Kerala and West Bengal
They claim to be the party for the workers and the poor, then why is poverty maximum in Bengal. Even it is one of the lowest states in health index. Kerala is full of literate unemployed people. People from both these states progress in their fields when they come out of their states. If the West Bengal govt. can talk to US delegations to bring investments what's the problem with central CPM? The West Bengal Municipal Elections are showing the general Trend. Communists are going down. Kerala will soon follow.
India and the World
The days of Russia giving Arms at cheaper prices are gone with their economy changing and changes that are taking place with respect to global power equations and strategic tie-ups. How ever it is not out of place mention that, in 1962 when china attacked India, US had come to India's rescue, not china or Russia or any other communist country. When we had terrific food shortage during Mr. Lal Bahadur shastry's time, It was US who had given us food supplies under PL-480 funds and no communists country bothered to help. The cost of these funds were written off later by US.
In spite of China attacking us Twice (once in 62,and Once in 69 in Nathula) communists are supporting the Chinese interests. Even the encroachment by China goes unnoticed. Someone needs to put into their heads that both Russia and China are extensively dealing with the USA and are in the path of development. Pakistan is going ahead with nuclear deal with China for their Kahuta plant.
UPA
The congress government should act strong in order to assure the Nation that they are ruling and not communists. The PM should be courageous enough to go ahead with what is correct and dare the Left to pull the rug.The congress should capitalize while the memory of public is fresh and the odds are stacked against the communists. If communists pull support, they are going to pay a heavy price in the next election. PM should realize opportunity knocks your doors only once and do not give up meekly. We Indians are frustrated. This is the time to act tough and not to play politics.
What communists do is issuing political statements against UPA, let it be the Nuclear del, inflation or the oil prices. But at the same time remain tied to the UPA government. So what is their assumption? Indians are fools? We can't see through this game? So you guys, what?, citizens of China? Remember, They were the first to decry the Pokhran I & II. Mark this, They have never ever supported any decision in the past 60 years which has taken the country forward.
Conclusion
Communist idea of ideology propagation is through spreading imaginary fears. We want to see governments solving real problems like poverty and underdevelopment and not waste their energy in dealing with imaginary fears. Trust me, imaginary fears never had a solution and will have none in the future as well. Hey communist uncle,Just imagine what the next generation children will think when they are told about your obstructionist tactics that delayed faster economic growth.

P. tigris : The Paradox
Recently there has been much hue and cry over the ever dwindling number of Tigers in the wild. Exactly, why should we even care whether they get extinct or not. We have already killed three species of their lot, then why not kill the remaining six. The only ones suffering would be those will no longer be able to use the aphrodisiacs, the lucky charms and 'life-saving' drugs that can only be made from tiger bones and teeth. But wild tigers are not required for that. We can create 'Tiger Farms' and breed and rear them for their fur, bones and teeth. That would be enough to satisfy the demand for the tiger products. So we have have our domestic tigers and they won't exactly be extinct, only that we will no longer have them in the wild. The world be a much better place without wild tigers, wouldn't it ?
I sincerely hope there is not a single person reading this who harbors these thoughts. But I guess this is the stance that our Government has taken over this problem. As long as some dubious tiger census gives reports of increasing tiger numbers, the bureaucrats and politicians are pleased. But let it not throw a veil over our eyes. Nobody will be certain about the actual numbers, but if you believe the words of Valmik Thapar, the wildlife expert, ' the Tiger has been placed in its coffin'. As per the wildlife conservationist Belinda Wright" The Government is in such a state of denial about the falling number of tigers that there is virtually nothing that anybody can do. It is really simple to understand this phenomenon -- when the highest authority that makes rules and is also responsible for its effective implementation states that there is no problem so where is the need to look for a solution. And that is the biggest mistake we are making today.''
Poaching and deforestation facilitated by settlements bordering forests and encroachment can be pinpointed as the main reasons. It is true that poaching is most rampant in forests
where there are some villages nearby. Encroaching in to forest land and turning it into farmland have been prevalent for long. The reasons have also been known for long, but no leader apart from the late Indira Gandhi has taken bold decisions to stop them. The urgency to instigate more stringent measures to protect our national animal must gain high priority. The Constitution has laid down extensive laws on wildlife protection, but who bothers about verbose laws in writing. If poaching has to be stopped then the forest protection force will have to be more vigilant and settlements which are in proximity of forest areas must be strictly discouraged. It is a matter of concern that there has been no recruitment of forest guards since 1987. The guards are given minimal wages and are equipped with primitive weaponry. No wonder there are instances of them conniving with poachers.
The need of the hour is for the Government to understand that forest and wildlife are also as important as any other issue. More manpower must be brought in, more resources, more responsible personnel, better equipped forest outposts and most of all better management. We are endowed with so much diverse flora and fauna, and we must strive to sustain it to the best of our ability.

Arushi meets an old man eater.
We never will completely understand the working of an investigation agency. But every person has something called common sense.I mean, almost everyone. With this skill even the layman can actually put forth a set of outcomes for any given condition or scenario. But when the results found by an investigation agency go way beyond all reasoning we wonder, "What the Hell?"
I am not into crime watch in TV. But when all channels are covering the same crime report, I am helpless. I have to watch. That is how I came across Arushi's murder case. Then there was never a day without hearing some new twist in the story. Let it be some new guy getting caught or some new clue popping up. I cant dissect all the intricacies of the murder plot. But as an current affairs follower I understood few points. I need not tell them here because everyone thought the same all over India.
Then after a long winded investigation by fidgety local police to blabbering CID, there came CBI. Here, I think you can see where the similarity to an old(?) man eater case comes up from. Similarity just starts here. Things were fast from here as usual. Come on, Its our legendary CBI, things will be fast. The suspects were never the same again. We found new individuals cropping up as murderers. If the local police propped up people of high society family and friends circle of Arushi as the murderers, CBI pushed in poor lower middle class citizens remotely related to the prime accused.
Crime supposedly performed with high surgical precision now became a handiwork of some compounder and a domestic help, both dependent on the two older suspects. I need not tell who. Don't these new suspects have anything to say or they got their mouth filled with molten lead? While all the people who were in local police list were seen live on prime time television crying innocence, how come CBI suspects were just seen in red circles in long distance camera shots.
Here, I hope you guys got the direction the wind is blowing. Anyone heard of of a 2006 Noida killing? Does Nithari strike a cord? For your information, the prime suspect of local police got acquitted after CBI took over and his servant (his accomplice) is now languishing in jail. What's with this CBI and these servants? After all, they both are servants, the former govt. servants and latter helpless servants.
PS: I am going to start brain mapping and narco analysis as cottage industry near the CBI headquarters.
Are We Institutionalized ?
I picked up the word 'Institutionalized' from the movie ' The Shawshank Redemption'. The narrator 'Red' (enacted by Morgan Freeman) an inmate of the Shawshank prison uses this word to describe his state. A dictionary would define this as ' officially placed in or committed to a specialized institution such as a hospital or a prison'.Going forward I am going to use this in a broader sense.
The above definition would put a fear in to the minds of people only if it were an institution like a prison, a hospital, a mental asylum or a rehabilitation center. Its not as much the dreadedness of the institution that I would like to elucidate, rather the dependency that it creates in us. Aren't we all part of an institution. As Engineers , as students, as laborers , aren't we all institutionalized ? We all have to follow rules, stick to deadlines and follow orders. We are bound to our duty by the needs of the world. The world needs Engineers, Doctors, students, teachers, laborers etc. Each and everyone of us fall in to one or more of the above category and find themselves 'institutionalized' once or more in some part of their life. Why do we need to become part of this ? Is this imposed on us or are we dutifully becoming a part of it ? Whatever the answer is, we are inevitably sucked in to it whether we like it or not.
The world : the institution as it is now is a manifestation of our evolution from a simple caveman to the modern metro-dweller. It was bound to happen, because we evolved and we had intelligence. We sought after pleasures and easier ways to live and made ourselves more and more dependent on the institution. This intertwined network with its ever-growing branches can never be uprooted and that is one reason why you will definitely be a part of it even if you try to avoid it. It is ubiquitous and it has sustained us all along. We will not be able to survive without it from now on.
Since we have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to avoid it, the only way out is to use it in such a way that suits your needs and you enjoy doing. It is quite hard to beat the system but once you adapt you will succeed in bending it around to satisfy your desires. Not many people have succeeded in this, most would prefer just being a part of it and taking what is given. But the ones who have adapted will have acquired what they wanted through it and that's what makes them different.
Coming back to the movie S.R, Andy Dufrane the protagonist refuses to be institutionalized. He escapes from the prison to lead his dream life. So that leads me again to another question. Can we live and not be a part of the institution ? It is a fact that we are dependent on it, but do we have to keep contributing to it forever. We cannot stop being a part of its productive process but we can reduce our contribution to it.
It would seem as if it is our responsibility to sustain the institution. We are its dedicated workers. It is our responsibility to take care of it and see that it doesn't collapse. But what if it did give away suddenly. We would be left stranded, ruined and unable to survive. So irrespective of how hard it is to sustain, the intellectuals of the world will continue supporting it with all their might and see to it that it is not even scratched. It is here to stay and no matter what you think about it, you will have to live with it.

The Primary Citizen is Born
Everyone's heard of the India growth story,
The sky-rocketing economy,
The booming stock markets,
The number of Indian Millionaires,
The flourishing Industry,
The Tatas, Mahindras and Infosys,
The SRK's, Big B's , Mallya's ..................etc
But, what about the umpteen number of conundrums and issues faced by the nation as a whole?
Inflation, Price rise, Corrupt politicians, incapacitated Judicial system, Farmer suicides, Terrorist attacks, law and order issues........the list keep going.
These are mostly overlooked or downplayed by the government and the media to retain a feel good atmosphere.
The common man would turn a blind eye towards these problems, until its effects starts to hurt him or his near and dear ones. He is comfortable in his own little cocoon and wouldn't want to involve in anything which upsets the peace within it.
The irresponsible and detached attitude of the citizen is the root cause of majority of the problems face by the nation. Everybody expects the government to find solutions and change situations, but, they are unwilling to participate. This state of the nation is exploited by the politicians and the bureaucracy for their own gains. It is regretful that even the Media, whose duty is to provide unbiased and clear information to the common man plays a part in this charade.
